Well- I'm here! After months and monmths of preparation! And it's great! Far better than I could ever have imagined. The place is beautiful, the people are lovely and it's soooooooo relaxed!
Staying at the Lion Hotel in Asmara for two weeks of in country training with the otrher 12 new volunteers- all lovely and we're having lots of fun! Went for a walk in the mountains outside Asmara today- just stunning! Lots of goats, cows and donkeys... but no camels yet! Have met some very sweet and inquisitive children and have tried a variety of injera and stew dishes. Food here is great!
We start proper training tomorrowe- have to be at the programme office by 8:30 and have to cycle there so that'll be a challenge!!
Hope everyone is well.

So has anyone offered to buy you in exchange for a cow yet?! Hope you're having fun. Clo x
Well it sounds absolutely brilliant and, yes, I am jealous. I got a bit confused about the use of the word "walk" in the context of the blog - are you sure?
And don't forget to start looking for my present!
Hi Liz,
This time last week.... driving round and round lots of roundabouts!!
Glad to hear you arrived safely and that you are having a good time. Everyone at school is thinking about you and some of the children have asked me how you are (y6 who remember me from Godspell.)
I am having a great time at All Saints, everyone has made me feel very welcome.
Good Luck with the early start.
Lots of Love Helen xxx
Hello. Look now, you're not supposed to be having fun and enjoying yourself. I'm telling everyone how hard it's going to be for you and you're out there swanning around like a tourist!!!
Have you had your hair braided yet?
Hi Biz
We got your card and note in the post this morning, thanks. We were all so pleased that you invited us to your bash and we had a good time. Amazed your Dad ok the following morning - I stuck to the Guiness - no chasers thank God! We were thinking of you all over the weekend - great to hear you arrived safely and that you are having fun.
Keep in touch and let us know how you go on.
A & G and the "Cling-ons" - I do like that very apt description!!
Hi Liz - You've done your 1st week! How's it going? We've been thinking of you at school and even added 'He's got Miss Lee in his hands' to our Songs of Praise on Tuesday. The children were very excited to be talking about you and are looking forward to reading your blog now that the IT's up and running. Look forward to hearing all about your training and hope you're having fun. Love Roz xx
